The flat-lay

Your own stethoscope
Copies of licenses and certifications (digital and paper)
Small folder of onboarding paperwork
Penlight and bandage scissors
Compression socks (several pairs)
Portable phone charger or power bank
Notebook for unit "need to knows."
Reusable water bottle and travel mug
Packable lunch bag with shelf-stable snacks
Small first-aid and medication pouch for yourself
Something comforting from home
  1. Your own stethoscope. One thing that's the same at every hospital.
  2. Copies of licenses and certifications (digital and paper). Every new site asks.
  3. Small folder of onboarding paperwork. Immunization records, IDs, references.
  4. Penlight and bandage scissors. Your own tools, so you're never borrowing on day one.
  5. Compression socks (several pairs). Laundry day isn't always convenient on assignment.
  6. Portable phone charger or power bank. Navigation, scheduling and calls home.
  7. Notebook for unit "need to knows." Door codes, extensions, where the code cart lives.
  8. Reusable water bottle and travel mug. A little home routine wherever you land.
  9. Packable lunch bag with shelf-stable snacks. New city, unknown cafeteria hours.
  10. Small first-aid and medication pouch for yourself. Pharmacies aren't always close to a short-term rental.
  11. Something comforting from home. A photo, a favorite pen, a small ritual.
